The Lawrence-Gregory Community Center and LeVerne Payne Community Center would like to ask local organizations, companies and college students to help by tutoring youth after school. Tutors should have experience with tutoring middle and high school youth on subjects such as reading, history, math, science, and language arts. Your support will be greatly appreciated by the students and families of Tallahassee.
Lawrence-Gregory Community Center at Dade Street, 1115 Dade Street, Tutoring Hours: Monday - Thursday - 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
LeVerne F. Payne Community Center, 450 West Fourth Street, Tutoring Hours: Monday – Thursday - 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Muscular Dystrophy Association Assistant

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is needing volunteers to assist with general office duties such as filing/copies/stuffing mailings, ect.

Florida Volunteer Adminstration Certification
Registration is now open for The Florida Volunteer Administration Certificate Program. The intent of the program is to build the capacity of local volunteer administrators across the state of Florida by providing accessible, affordable and high quality training.VolunteerLEON’s Presentation Team has more than 100 years of experience in volunteer management and volunteer coordination and since the program’s inception in 2004, 150 graduates have benefitted from the instructional hours from our local experts to help build capacity to manage volunteers.

ASL/English and/or Spanish Interpreter Volunteers Needed
WORKFORCE plus seeks volunteers who are experienced with finger spelling/American Sign Language, who are interested in working with individuals and groups of people who are hearing impaired to obtain career and job preparation training.

Interpretive assistance may also include translating and interpreting computer class instruction provided in person in English or Spanish by WORKFORCE plus instructors. These volunteer opportunities may occur infrequently and for limited periods of time during the work week of Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Interpreters with any of the following certificates preferred: Certificate of Interpretation, Educational Certificate, Certified Deaf Interpreter, National Association of the Deaf, National Interpreter Certification, Oral Transliteration Certificate, Certificate of Transliteration, Florida Educational Interpreter, or other. WORKFORCE plus may require background screenings be conducted for volunteers.

Volunteers Sought to Serve on Leon County Citizen Advisory Boards, Committees and Councils Info
Citizen participation - by way of community input, advice and recommendations regarding matters to be brought before the Board for approval - is important in developing Leon County's pregrams/policies and in providing quality public servies to the community.
Citizens can go to the County's website to complete the Board-Appointed Citizen Committee's Orientation and Training and fill out an application.
